Penny Lane Builders Case Study
Penny Lane Builders are a family owned building and maintenance contractor based out of Speke in Liverpool. In November 2003 the company implemented the JobLogic service management system from Tracer Management Systems in Birmingham. It was recognised that more control was needed over the flow of work which included reactive repair maintenance and refurbishment projects for social housing organisations . At the time there were fifteen mobile operatives employed and problems included excessive paperwork, potential to miss invoicing and lack of centralised information for both administration staff and management.
Four years later the company has grown significantly. Large long term contracts have been secured with clients such as the Plus Dane Group and South Liverpool Housing. Today Penny Lane employ over one hundred mobile operatives and provide maintenance services for thousands of homes in the Merseyside area. The company provides exciting job opportunities and good prospects for long term job security to many people in the local area. Gerard McEvoy Director of Penny Lane Builders remarked, "the implementation of JobLogic has enabled our company to grow with the confidence that large contracts could be managed efficiently and that our clients' expectations can be exceeded. It is a testament to the scale-ability of JobLogic that we have not had to replace our system in four years of rapid growth."
In order to ensure that the company maintains it's growth plan over the next few years Penny Lane has recently implemented the PDALogic module. PDALogic enables electronic communication with mobile operatives utilising a handheld device. The system eradicates the need for paper job sheets and eliminates unnecessary engineer visits to the office. PDALogic also enables Penny Lane to invoice on the day of job completion improving the cash flow for the business. Real-time job status updates, time-sheets, parts requests and customer signatures are all collected electronically in the JobLogic system.
James Whatmore Sales Director for Tracer Management System commented, "it's pleasing to see that Penny Lane have continued to expand the use of the JobLogic system and invest in mobile communications. This technology will put Penny Lane into an even stronger position when tendering for new contracts and provide them with the ability to complete more jobs each day without increasing their cost base."
The outlook for Penny Lane Builders is bright during a period of uncertainty for the global economy. Gerard McEvoy explained, "by investing in cost saving technology we can provide our clients with high levels of service whilst retaining the ability to maximise our time both in the office and out in the field."
